OUR COMMITMENT

Lighting up the sky.
Bringing our village together
In 1971, local residents came together with a simple idea: to offer families a safe, organised alternative to private garden displays, bringing the village together for one shared celebration. From that idea, the Bolton-le-Sands Bonfire & Fireworks Committee was born.
That purpose remains at the heart of what we do today. Our trained local team uses industry-leading pyrotechnics, including lower-noise effects, to create a spectacular community display.
Our event is not-for-profit and run entirely by local volunteers, with every hour from planning to the final clear-up given freely. We do it because we care about our village, and that commitment continues beyond Bonfire Night through the committee’s support for local organisations throughout the year.

OUR COMMITMENT
Built by the village, for the village
Each year, the people and businesses of Bolton-le-Sands make the display possible by buying tickets, sponsoring the event, supporting our fundraising and volunteering their time. Once we have covered the cost of a safe, organised display and prepared for the following year, we use any remaining funds to give something back to the community that supports us.
Over the years, this has included funding community projects throughout the village and most recently paying for the rewiring of the electric's in the play school in the village.
Our direct donations totalled £800 in 2024, £1,150 in 2025 and £1,250 in 2026. Every ticket purchased and every contribution from a sponsor helps us create a memorable community event and when funds allow, make a lasting difference throughout the village.
